As my humidor space becomes ever and ever more precious, I thought, hey, why can't I combine the beads with the thermometer. So I just shoved the thermometer (it has a fairly sharp tip) through the end of the red cap and wiggled it into the beads and shazaam! What do you think?

The "Humid-a-Temp Combo"

Only see one thing wrong with it... its measuring the beads directly and not the surrounding humidor atmosphere.

Might not be a problem, but I'm not sure its a good idea.

I thought about that - my experiment to confirm accuracy is as follows:
I've placed two thermometers in the one humidor, one is the "Humid-a-Temp", the other, a normal thermometer as I had before. I'll have to watch and see if there is a difference. However, in theory, the "Humid-a-Temp" should actually reach the same temp as the inside ambient atmosphere over time, say a few hours, and not jump to the ambient air temp every time I open the humidor. At least that is my theory, "and I'm sticking with it". At least till I can prove otherwise...

Hello all,

As I theorized, the two thermometers displayed the exact same temperature - (68º) when I checked them about 4 hours after I placed the second one into the humidor. BTW those little cooking thermometers are also able to be calibrated, which I did some time ago.

So I have two more humidors to equip with the "Humid-a-Temp" combo,

Glad you liked it Viper
