I know AVB has a thread on this somewhere around here, but I can't seem to find it . . . I bought a bottle tonight based on his recommendation, and on my hunch that this would be the closest thing I could find to the absolutely stellar Benriach Solstice 17 I acquired in a recent Scotch Buy.
It's not as smoky or thick as the Solstice, but it IS wonderfully peaty, with a rich dried fruit undercurrent---a LOT more iodine than the Solstice, putting me in mind of Laphroiag's Quarter Cask, but with a balanced sweetness and long, long finish all its own.
A wonderful dram in its own right, with a lot of depth and complexity and LOADS of peat. Very nice.
