Well the day has finally arrived..... I have been waiting for this for quite some time. As of tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26th between the hours of 8am and 1 pm I will be getting a visit from........ THE CABLE GUY!

I hope the tech that comes out don't give me the same speech as the saleslady on the phone. They sure wanted me to give up my Satellite TV. They don't seem to want to sale you just cable internet..... LOL! So long dial up! :)

For those of you that tried to help me over the last day or so with setting up this router to network my computers... forgetaboutit. I tried and got a bunch of lights to flash at me but have no idea what I did or what it was suppose to do. I ended up unconnecting everything and putting it back in the box. If the Cable Guy won't set me up (after I slip him an extra $20 or so) then I'll have to hire it out.

So, look for me on a web site near you soon but look quick.... as I'll be zooming on down the highway. ROFLMAO :D

WooHoo!! I'll be losing my cable access for a few months starting next weekend. But, we are moving into the apartment at our office so I will go from a cable line to a LAN. So, no big loss. LMAO Our office houses the whole towns servers. :) Good luck with it Kenny, it'll be hard to get used to...yeah right! :0

Bro, you will wonder how you ever lived without it. :)

I know I did...LOL

I've been trying to talk the wife into giving up AOL and going to cable!

Maybe when both kids go to college!!

Good luck, Kenny!

I've had my cable up and running at home since last Friday and it is sweeeeet! They are going to have to pry this cable modem from my cold, dead hands before I go back to dialup.

Boy oh boy, you'll never be the same after high speed access :p

Damn, this is worse than waiting on a box pass to show up.... Pee pee dance in full swing...... Oh Caaable Guuuuy, Where arrrrrre youuuuuuuuu ? :)

I loved the car commercial (the first 200X that I saw it) where the customer tells him he'll be home somewhere between noon and 5.

Little advice if you'll take it...

Once the cable guy leaves, go to www.zonelabs.com and download the FREE version of Zone Alarm (unless you want to pay the 30 bux). What this program does is give you a personal firewall, so no one can 'hack' you. Read the documentation, it's very very easy to use, and in no time, you'll have your computer locked down nice and tight.

The full version is well worth the price also, I set up the free version on every single client I have and let them decide if they even need to have the full. Most people don't, but if you plan on heavily using your computer, then it might be worth it, because the full version also adds an email scan.

Depending on your provider, they may actually set one up for you. Some use the Norton Personal Firewall, which is another great personal firewall product.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks Tony, if I understand this info I'm reading on this router I bought (LinkSys Model # BEFW11S4 ver.2) it has a firewall built into it.

I have to admit..... I'm pretty much a turn it on and it goes kinda guy. I can handle certain low tech stuff like adding software or possibly memory and stuff but when they start tossing around terms like Fixed IP's, DNS IP's, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, Wan, Wep, Wi Fi, PPPoE, Lan IP, DHCP, I run like hell....ROFLMAO! :D

Wait a minute, you're in San Antonio aren't you Tony? I've got this great idea.... you drive over here to the Houston area and I'll let you set my network up. I'll give you the Pass Across America box and you can get it to some of the SA group. LOL! What a deal..... :p

Now where is that damn cable guy?

Ya got Tony and J Lew..Jason Lewis mixed up...Tony's up in 'Yankee Land'. Jason's in S.A.

UGH!!! Right now I'm wishin' I was in TX... I'm in NY :( Never hated it as much as I do right this second LOL

That model of router you bought is great. You won't need that software I suggested.

How many PC's are you trying to hook up? Did you do the multiple IP's with your provider? Almost all the cable companies are going to say no if you ask them if they support networks, which is a bunch of bull. It's pretty easy to set up.

I wish my brother knew what he was doing, I'd send him over to you to help out, he's stationed in Abilene (sp). But he's a horror with computers LOL....

If ya need help, I can try and walk you through some things...

Yankee.. Hrumph! LOL... I resemble that remark LOL!!

:D :D :p

Ahhhhh, that crap has been happening a lot lately.... the mind is slowly vanishing. ???

Thats OK, the offer still stands Tony, hop on a plane and come on down. ;) ROFLMAO!

AAAAAHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEE...........

Hell yeah...... it even makes me type faster....ROFLMAO!

Did a speed test from some web site....is over 4,000 kbps a good thing? :0
