Cigarpassaholic. Mmm.. cigarpassahol.
Got back from a weekend away tonight and had my package from TB waiting. Here's a bit of a review..
It was smokey with overtones of leather. There was a bit of burnt toast.. Oh wait! That's the cigar. :sign:
The shine.. I'm not really sure what to compare it to because its the first time I've ever had moonshine. The look and nose of it reminded me of cognac, although its thinner than cognac would be. The smell is very pleasant but definitely gives you a hint that it packs quite a punch. Its quite strong, gives you a nice warm feeling going down (can't imagine what it was like before you diluted it!). The flavor is nice, I can't quite put my finger on it. Definitely some flavor from the cherries soaking in it. Some other general fruitiness to it as well. I want to say dried fig. (okay, maybe I've been reading too many CA reviews)
All in all a great effort! Frankly when I heard moonshine I was expecting it to taste like gasoline :0, but it doesn't at all.
FWIW, I'd say it needs more time. I think more of the cherry flavor infused would be really good. I also think you could cut the proof a bit more. I guess this is a matter of taste, but for me the pure alcohol flavor was a bit strong. Then again, I don't generally like really high proof liquor, so if you do you might think the strength is just fine.
Thanks for letting me sample it Tony!!
