Got back from a weekend away tonight and had my package from TB waiting. Here's a bit of a review..
It was smokey with overtones of leather. There was a bit of burnt toast.. Oh wait! That's the cigar. :sign: :p
The shine.. I'm not really sure what to compare it to because its the first time I've ever had moonshine. The look and nose of it reminded me of cognac, although its thinner than cognac would be. The smell is very pleasant but definitely gives you a hint that it packs quite a punch. Its quite strong, gives you a nice warm feeling going down (can't imagine what it was like before you diluted it!). The flavor is nice, I can't quite put my finger on it. Definitely some flavor from the cherries soaking in it. Some other general fruitiness to it as well. I want to say dried fig. (okay, maybe I've been reading too many CA reviews)

All in all a great effort! Frankly when I heard moonshine I was expecting it to taste like gasoline :0, but it doesn't at all.

FWIW, I'd say it needs more time. I think more of the cherry flavor infused would be really good. I also think you could cut the proof a bit more. I guess this is a matter of taste, but for me the pure alcohol flavor was a bit strong. Then again, I don't generally like really high proof liquor, so if you do you might think the strength is just fine.

Thanks for letting me sample it Tony!! :)

Sounds great - when can we find it in stores.

I'm all for the higher proof, but then I like Soju, Sake, Mekong and Tanduay....

So what is the current bribe up to so I can get on the sample list? ;)

Just back from vacation.

Glad you enjoyed the experience other1. I think moonshine has gotten a bad reputation due to wives tails. When made correctly it can rival some of the finer whiskey and burbon on the market, provided it is well aged in a charred oak barrell (which mine isn't, yet).

Now if I can just figure out how to make it correctly...

Since I haven't HAD ANY OF THIS YET (hint, hint) I wouldn't know...

I assume you are hinting at Tony. If you are hinting at me you are about 2 hours too late because I already mailed out your package.

Yeah, I'm hinting at the lover of midget porn :)

I still haven't forgiven you Moki, for mixing the bourbon I sent with coke  That spent 17 years in charred oak I'd hate to see what you'll do with stuff only 5 weeks old. :0 :0

Just to spite you, I'm going to mix it with diet 7-up next :)

Ugh...you're the one who's gonna drink it. I'll provide the Pepto. :(

There's nothing wrong w/ midget porn! Damn you and your morals!

Sample arrived and will be given a full review this weekend. This should be interesting.

It should be interesting...but could be scary :sign:

Seriously, I know what I need to do w/ the stuff to get it to the next level. Basically, it involves an activated carbon filtration and a little oaking to mellow things a tad. I'm not cutting the proof further though.

Shine is meant to be strong and strong it will stay :)
