BOTL's In Arms,

It seems as of late there has been an increase in the discussion of firearms, firearm safety, home defense, and firearm legislation here on the boards. After some brainstorming, it came to my attention that this would be a great pass theme. I brought it up with another BOTL, Gunsandcigars88, who shares with me in being an avid gun collector. After some conversing, I have asked him to be a co-sponsor of the pass.

Firearm collecting, safety, local and national proposed legislation, the NRA, and restoration provide a lot of different angles for discussion topics while the pass will travel among the participants. Also, with the pass I hope it can serve as a reference for those interested in purchasing a firearm, and it can provide insight to those who are thinking about becoming a gun owner.

This pass is open to anyone who has a minimum of one successful pass or trade under their belt, hasn’t had any recent fits of asshattery, lives in the US, and is the proud owner of a firearm. It’s first come, first serve for those who meet the requirements, and were not invited prior to the posting of the pass. All you have to do is provide some sort of knowledge of firearms, it's a huge plus if you are a firearm owner, meet the 3 month membership, live in the US, and 1 pass or trade requirements. The reason this is limited to US participants is due to the presence of ISOM's. Don't need the pass being confiscated. Since it is first come first serve, those who post the picture first will be accepted into the pass, this will go on until all spots are filled. Upon being accepted into the pass (your name is added to the list) pm me your Shipping information and telephone #’s.

I have submitted my dues to be a member of Cigarpass Insurance, we will wait for that to be noted before this hits the road; it’s always a good idea if you’re not a member, to mail in a few sticks and get yourselves insured as well. Better to play it safe, I’ve seen USPS manage to destroy the most protected packages. We won't be starting this until the last week of November, or very beginning of December. Though, it gives us all a little extra to do over the holidays. The cigar (Ammo) list that will begin the pass is finished and up to date.

The rules are standard:

1) CP member in good standing with 1 successful pass or trade, 3 months’ time on the boards, and
live in the US. (Because of the presence of ISOMS)
2) Be willing to discuss firearms, without causing a flame war (This is meant to be educational!)
3) Equal puts for Equal Takes…that means Value for value, rarity for rarity, ISOM for ISOM, etc. (Any
concerns may be pmed before you post your P/T’s)
4) Upon receiving please inspect the pass and make sure the humidity is fine, and nothing is
damaged or missing. If there is an issue, please post it in the pass and make all participants aware.
5) Post P/T’s as soon as you can so they can be reviewed and approved (Use CigarCyclopedia.com
for pricing and value information, links below). Please fill out the papers with the pass, noting
which cigars you took…and what you put for them. Use the correct numbers!!! Be sure to label all
of your puts with numbers! Do not ship without approval!
6) Unlimited amount of P/T’s, after all, we have to make this worth everyone’s while.
7) If at all possible, try to prevent putting a double into the pass…if the cigar you were going to use
as a put is already in there, try to find another suitable put. Everyone deserves to have the same
variety to choose from that you did.
8) Before Shipping make sure to contact the next person on the list and make sure they are ready to
receive. Always ship with a tracking number and post it in the thread notifying the members that
the pass is on the road! Handoffs are allowed and encouraged, especially if it is during a shooting
outing that passers were able to organize!

*Note*: the best way to get an average MSRP is to add 3 or 4 box prices (Highest, Lowest, and some in the middle) from different retailers, average them, and then divide the average by how many cigars are in the box.

Sounds like a great pass. As a gun owner I wish I could join in but I don't meet all the reqs. Have fun everyone!

I think this is a great idea. I have been an NRA member for about three years now and its one of my most cherished assocations. I believe in the right to safely own and bare arms. I was actually recently featured in a book called Armed America which was a photographic display of gun owners around the country telling thier story. I ONLY agreed to be photographed and interviewed in order to help present a different vision of gun owners in American and young black gun owners in particular. As I said in the book and the various interviews that followed, I am not a gangster, I am not a rapper or some mad revolutionary. I am a 33 year old marketing manager with a masters degree in global business management and work for one of the largest healthcare providers in the country. I pay my taxes, show up for jury duty and believe O Jay IS guilty. Oh...I also own several guns, shoot competitively and hold my right to bare arms close to my heart. So although I don't have the time to right now to be a good and active member in your pass I whole heartedly support your effort and the cuase.

Here's a link to one of the stories done about the book I was fitured in...I am the guy standing in the orange dining room. I am holding my Taurus 40 (although I have recently switched over to a glock 17)

Here is another interview I did for a local paper. I think my picture in on page 3 of the images link

Great idea! I hope you have another in a few months when I am eligable

After the completion of this one, there may be a second next spring before the end of pass season. There seems to have been a large influx of members in the last month or so where this would be right up their alley. However, let's see how this one turns out first.

Also, the pass logo has been created. :D

Of course, I had to use the model 1911 I own as the pistol in the graphic. (GI Model, Springfield Armory)

Thanks for allowing me on board!! I look forward to the knowledge that can be shared and recieved in this pass.

Jim

Gentlemen (and Ladies), I am so far up this alley, it just isn't right. I can't express adequately how perfectly I would fit with this pass. Fantastic cause, outstanding members volunteering so far and a golden opportunity for me to share and learn from our collective resources and experiences. I am truly jealous of those that will be allowed to participate. I don't fit the profile, and I'm counting the days and transactions until I do. Have fun, and I'll see you in the next one!

Nice idea for a PASS! Thanks for having me. Alright now, where are all those pictures? Perhaps we should allow them to put that little black box across their eyes like I've heard they do with some of the porn images. You know to protect their anonymity, never know what the BATF will be monitoring ??? ???

LOL, very awesome idea for a pass man! I own a few firearms and plan to (quickly) add more to the collection just in case!

Whats the deal Don, don't want to play along with the rest of us? :whistling:

Edit to add:
Here I'll start off with a little porn.
Don't be shy to get in the pass guys, we got more than a dozen spots open!

Top to bottom we have:
Benelli Super Nova (12Ga.)
Henry Repeating Golden Boy (.22)
1943 Russian M44 Re-Stocked (7.62x54mm)
1947 Israeli K98, matching bayonet (.308)
1965 Ishapore Nato 2AEnfield (7.62x51mm)

LOL, sure I will play if you will have me. :) I will post a pic of my weapons soon. :) I mainly have a few handguns but I built my own AR from a stripped lower for my first black rifle. :) I am in the process of picking up another 2 stripped lowers just in case the new admin doesn't like firearms hehe. I will pm ya my info!

Don

Thanks for the invite Jake. Always fun to hear how the rest of the country views our God given rights.

Hey Doc! Jump in on this. Your experience and wisdom will be a big help.

Dude lets see some pics of those pea shooters you claim are guns :).

Jim

Yea guys, let's start seeing some of this firearm porn.

Even though everyone can see the model of my 1911, as it's in the pass logo, I'll post a photo later tonight just for posterity sake. ;)

Also, we still have 13 open spots guys, first come first serve. Don't be shy...this should be a fun and educational pass. :)

This looks like fun and I will participate in the Spring when eligible if allowed.
