Bowler denied 300 game

Not sure about you all, but I pretty much grew up bowling until I got into high school, in which I stopped bowling to play football and baseball full time.  But I have witnessed a few friends of mine bowl a 300 and its such an amazing feat.  I saw this article today and I couldn't not believe it, my heart sank for the guy, bowling a 297 is still better than I ever bowled but to be that close to a 300 from a lane malfunction, all I got to say is "damn".

That sucks.
 
The closest I have ever been is a 290.  I used to be a regular bowler, but haven't seen a bowling ball in almost 6 years.

He said it was because of his own mistake.  What a shame.  I've decided if I ever get a 300, I'll retire my bowling equipment.  :laugh:
