I didn't know these were even coming in until the guy at my B&M showed me the box. Nice dark wrapper on these with a silver Casa Magna band. I grabbed one of the petite corona / small sized ones and tried it out. Have to say I enjoyed it, although the draw was a little tight.

Just curious if anyone else is trying these and what they think. I think I'm going to try a larger ring gauge today and see how that goes.

On another "in general" note, there's quite a bit of new stuff coming out that I'm missing the news on. Maybe it's just me, but I never heard of these coming, nor the San Cristobal sun growns. I saw a few threads on the T-52, but I figured that was some new "limited" tat that I didn't even read 'em. B&M has some of those, too, so that's another one to try. RP Decade and '92 tubos I saw, too. I think I heard some discussion of those, though.

Times like this make me appreciate a good B&M with guys that like to just hang and talk smokes while I'm in there. :)

John....These are not just a CM with an oscuro wrapper. The original ones had a Nic blend, while the oscuros have a Honduran blend. I smoked one (toro) and thought it was ok. I liked the original ones much better. As for the T52, that's the new blend of the Liga Privada....not Tat. Next time you're in a B&M, pick out a new La Aroma de Cuba (make sure it's the new blend). I think you'll enjoy them. I really enjoyed the SC del Sol at the show this past year, and I think the ones that are out need some more down time. They're not the same as they were in NOLA.

Oh yeah, I have one of the new La Aroma de Cuba in my humidor. They were giving these out at a Tuesday tasting a couple of weeks ago. A lot of people were raving about it, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Maybe today. :)

Lots of new stuff, it seems, or maybe I'm just paying more attention. ;)

Thanks for the clarifications on the CM, too. Had no idea on that one...

It's that time of year when new prodcut just pours onto the shelves of your local B&Ms. Its great, but at the same time can be daunting. But that's why it is important to have a B&M you can trust to guide you through the jumble.

I had one of the smaller sizes of the Casa Magna Oscuro last Saturday, and was underwhelmed. It was pleasant and smooth and all, but just didn't stand out as anything particularly special like the original, which I definitely like much, much better. I'm not a huge maddie fan, though, so my impressions may not be typical.

Haven't tried the new La Aroma de Cuba blend yet, because the price almost doubled. Darn well BETTER be a major upgrade if they're going to play like that!

The SC sungrowns haven't made it this far south yet.

I just finished the Oscuro, I'll be posting my review in a bit here! :)

Smoked the new LAdC tonight and was really impressed. Need to look into the price point on these as this one was free. Can certainly work this into my rotation, though. MUCH better than the old blend. Not sure what kind of tobacco, but a good strength and flavor to it. I had a bundle of the old ones once and although I smoked 'em all (in Iraq, I wasn't too picky), they weren't very good. :)

John, they are a full Nic cigar now, blended by who else but Don Pepin. I don't know how prices are in your area, but they are in the $6-8 range.

Check your package from Santa I again. I would swear I had the elves put one in there. Did they forget?

You're going to have to beat those elves again, big guy, they must've smoked it behind the sleigh shed, the lil' fuggers. :sign:

No worries!

I was a bit rough on the Casa Magna's when they were first released, being named CA's cigar of the year and all, and my first experience with these was uneventful at best. I have since grown to love these and was shocked and excited when I walked into my local B&M a few weeks ago to see the Oscuro's on the shelf, primarily because I had not even heard about them. This cigar is fantastic imo! It's got a jet black Honduran wrapper and a mix of Honduran and Nicaraguan filler. It's got the same great backbone of the Colorado's, but not quite as much bite and slightly more complex. I was very impressed with this cigar. Both the Colorado and Oscuro versions are now staples in my humi. In this time of super limited edition ultra special release cigars that you have to beg, borrow, steal and practically murder someone to get your hands on, Fonseca has made regularly availble at an incredible price point a damn good cigar. Imo, this ranks right up there for price/quality with the Padron's regular line and the Oliva V's.

I also tried the San Cristobal del Sol and I have to say I was very disappointed. I love their regular line and was very much looking forward to these. I'm going to give them another try but my first experience with this line wasn't nearly as impressive as with that of the regular line.
