I just saw a news report here in chicago this morning. They are reporting that an anerican intelligence agency is saying that castro has got terminal cancer. And that he is not going to be returning back to power.
 
:( Sadly enough it will make no difference. The embargo will not get lifted. :( I believe his son will take power and he is no better. So, I will continue to not smoke many ISOM's. Oh well :p

His brother rather. But what is something to take notice of, the embargo is in place primarily to make Cuban exiles in Miami happy so they don't turn on whoever strikes it down in an election. And they mainly really hate Fidel Castro, so, while I'm not saying the embargo would be lifted if Fidel kicks the can, there would be a lot less animosity towards lifting it after Fidel does kick the can.

That said - I would take the US intel report with a grain of salt. It could be purposely planted so that anti-Castro types in the gov't will start moving sooner rather than later.

But, then again, what do I know?
 
This is the way I see it, I'm the type of person where I like to listen to all the facts, skim out the B.S. and try to come up with a realistic opinion. Fact, china signed a deal with cuba to drill oil out of the gulf. Fact, bush NEEDS lower gas prices. The way I see it is that like him or hate him castro is an icon and a power in cuba. When he is gone the icon is gone. This opens an opertunity for us to influence who the next leader in cuba will be. If the next leader is more pro-american, this would finally be a positive point in bush's long list of negatives. When you see how bush has been trying to influance the politics of the middle east, is there any doubt that he wouldn't do it in cuba.

Secondly, I talked to a friend of mine who is probly the second largest retailer of cigars in the chicago land area. He says that he's been told by a mojor power in the cigar industry that when the embargo goes down that all the arrangements have allready been made on whats going to happen. Acording to him all the non-cuban distributors of a specific brand will handle the distribution of the cuban brand. I.E. the black dot cohiba distributors will handle the cuban cohibas. The non-cuban partagas distributors will handle the cuban partagas cigars, and so on.

Ultimatly there is too much money to be made out there not to take advantage of an opertunity like this.
 
Probobly not cancer. Whatever it is, I think he caught it from his boy-toy Hugo. :0

there is long standing, deep rooted bad blood between the US and Cuba. I agree with Darren that Castro's death won't change much. Cuba has been the evil bully on the block for decades, trying to destabilize just about every government in the hemisphere. A dead Castro is interesting fuel for speculation, though. I'm sure that even his brother will not hold that government like he did.
 
Krautle87 the combination of that photo and your use of the words "boy-toy" kind explains why castro has been in the hospital so long. I'm just surprised that he can lay on his butt.
 
If Hugo tries to step in and get really involved with Cuba, watch the US try to move in there. I don't think we want a nutbag 90 miles away from our country.
