Living life on the heavies.
Its rare that I get a chance to visit a local cigar shop when I am on an overnight due to the fact we usually stay near the airports and most shops seem to be near downtown. This shop was just three miles down from the hotel I was staying in so I got the van driver to take me down there and pick me up later on.
I had seen the website and decided to check it out. What a superb store, with a HUGE humidor. The place had just about every brand I could think of at your regular B&M prices and a very informative staff who was quick to help. The store had that old timey, classy feel. Lots and lots of memorabilia on the walls and overall pleasant atmosphere to sit down and have a smoke. The lounge was incorporated into the store which I enjoy. I am not a big fan of sitting in a back room puffing away. This was very open with two tables and four leather chairs. I sat with some locals for about 4hrs and the conversation was great and the people better.
While there I smoked a San Cristobal and a Cojonu 2006, both pleasant smokes. The SC was a tad harsh at first but mellowed out nicely after a 1/4 inch into it. The Cojonu was great except for the relights.
Like I said earlier the humidor was giant, actually two rooms. One thing they had which I had not seen was a cabinet in the center with "90 plus rated" cigars. Something a new guy would find useful. I do believe they went off CA for their ratings. They had an excellent stock of pipes, about 4 large cabinets full and large selection of pipe tobacco. I recommend this store if you are in the area.
They are putting on a "Cigar-O-Rama" sometime in Sept with a playboy centerfold and 15 cigar makers. (I believe, check the website)
Overall a great break from the hotel.
