I just got into cigars and my wife signed me up for an online cigar club with cigar.com....for the first month they sent me 5 Gurkha cigars...a Titan, Beast, Centurian, Legend Churchill, and a Legend Perfecto....is this a good selection to start with...

also...i went to a cigar shop and the guy there said i should try a Cuenta Rey and a Rocky Patel...i tried the Rey and loved it...what are ya'lls opinions on Rocky Patel's...

thanks in advance for the input....

It depends, Rocky's cigars are all over the board for me. I personally dont like his Connecticut cigars, too mild kind of bland..but i love his Vintage 1990's. What kind of Rocky did you receive? Also a nice thing bout Rocky is he has so many lines that there's bound to be one that will fit anyone's budget.

Imo, Gurkha is expensive for what it is... mostly overrated imo, but as a cheaper smoke found on cbid, its not bad.

X2....as for the Rocky Patels cigars I find them hit or miss depending on the line and size. I Like the vintage 90's...and the Old World Reserve Maduros. I am a big fan of the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte maduros, which are made by Rocky Patel.

I must suggest trying the newbie sampler trade as that will give you a chance to try a variety of cigars at a great value.

A Gurkha selection is a good place to start. They have 100s of smokes, so nearly everyone can find at least one or two they like. I love the Regents and the cognac infused Platinums.

RPs are similar. Lots of "brands" or whatever you want to call 'em. The Fusions are one of my top 3 cigars and the Vintage 90's are delicious. Not a fan of the '92s and some of his other brands are a little mild.

Just keep trying different kinds and you'll find what you like. :)
