So excited...a friend is sending me a bottle of Germain-Robin Select Barrel XO brandy, and a bottle of Maison Surrene Single Vintage XO Grande Champagne cognac.

I look so forward to a mild-medium cigar, and dark chocolate tasting when they come in next week. I'm thinking a Choix Supreme will be nice with it. Or perhaps a Medaille D'Or #1...

Anybody have much experience with either? I have had a single taste of the Germain-Robin old-havana and a snifter or two of their Shareholders Reserve...but neither of the ones that I have coming in.

Maison Surrene XO
1972 vintage

Wonderful golden ochre swirling in a glass. first nose is the orange blossom, later you pick up on a tofee note.
Tasting is very similiar, a nice roundness on the palette accented by a cinnamon sweet orange candy that leaves to reveal the toffee/caramel flavors that build on the finish.

I think a BBF goes well with this.

Still waiting to try the Germain-Robin

Thanks for the cigar suggestion. I'll give a BBF a try when the bottles come in.

As for waiting on the Germain-Robin, you get yourself to West Hartford, CT, and I'll happily pour a glass or two.

Edit: Those nosing/Tasting notes are making my mouth water!!!
