College friends spoiled me badly!

Well, my college friends got me, and got me good. I'm getting married next June, and ever since I got engaged my friends have been planning this little trip for me, keeping all the details save for the dates secret from me.

The trip happened over last weekend, from Thursday to Monday (I couldn't take off any more time); my friends really outdid themselves as we wound up in Munich at this years Oktoberfest. Needless to say, I was blown away.

But there was more; before leaving NY, my friends decided to stop by JR Cigars and we walked out with this:

My first FFOXs, a couple of my favorite cigars (Hemi Sig), a couple AFCC for my friend who likes them and some JR Ultimates because I've heard so much about them.

Then we flew to Amsterdam on our way to Munich (KLM is an excecllent airline for anyone that's interested in that sort of thing BTW), where some island friends joined us:

The next three days are sort of a blur, but the FFOX was great. Though I didn't get the overpowering spice that many seem to I thoroughly and completely enjoyed it. The Monte #4 was perfect as the first cigar of the day on Sat, it seemed rather mild in comparison to the other smokes we brought with us. The big surprise was the JR Ultimate; these things hung with the other cigars we had IMO, and was just as enjoyable a smoke. Sure it didn't have the rarity of the Opus or the guilty pleasure factor of some of the others, but this was one fine cigar regardless.

I'll never be able to repay my friends for this experience, it was beyond imagination. I apologize if this is too "look at me!", but I couldn't help but share my excitment at trying all these fabulous cigars. And doing it while at Oktoberfest no less.

Damn! I'm hoping my best man plans a trip to vegas!!
Nice Buddies! Can I borrow them?

Their B&M store in Manhattan does; they do not sell them on their website or ship them out though, I asked while I was there.

When I was there they had 3 boxes, all roughly half gone.

Thanks for the info I will go ask at the 2 JRs in NJ if they have them. Where they priced well?

They were priced fairly well, yes. Slightly above MSRP, probably because of taxes, none of the $30+/cigar nonsense.

The ones we bought were Reserva d'Chateau @ $16 ea. I think MSRP is ~$13 ea. for those.

Thats like cigar porn. I just like to see the pictures but the articles are interesting too.

the price increase is probably just NY state taxes. a reputable place like JRs wont mark up their stock since theyre a big authorized dealer. same with Holts.

i find the reserva's to be smoother probably due to its length. if you want that kick in your mouth get a xXx, they dont call them power rangers for nothing.
