As reported in the recent CigarCyclopidia"
"Despite the impact of two killer hurricanes last fall, tobacco farmers in the famed western province of Pinar del Rio reported that the final phase of an excellent 2009 crop is now being harvested.
The government moved about 260 carpenters from other provinces to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed last year, notably about 7,000 curing barns into which the harvested leaves are placed to dry and begin the long process toward become cigars. The Miami Herald reported that 5,300 barns have been restored, 865 more are being re-roofed and about 500 others are in some stage of repair.
This fast work and excellent weather since the hurricanes has allowed for a harvest which is close to its normal capacity."
Good news from the Island South of Miami  .
