So Id like to know what is the current recommendations for prepping a wine fridge for conversion. I cant even recall what I did for my current one 15+ years ago. Prob just a wipe down with a mild cleaner and air out.

The one that hopefully will be in hand soon has wooden drawers/shelves I will be keeping and Im a little concerned that even though they are probably sealed from moisture there may be something lurking in a porous surface somewhere.

TIA

This is the interior of my new one and I don't expect yours will be much different inside unless it has metal walls. I used a damp cloth, no chemicals and gave it a good wipe. Let it sit for five days with shelves and Boveda and a Govee ( after separate humidity test ). I would not do anything to the shelving until you find out what your humidity is. Several of the other brothers here could add more information and perhaps better explain it. I would encourage you to look into the Govee.

Yeah Im a Govee convert. I have a couple in the one I have now and two more inbound today from Bezo's for the new one.

I will have to see what I have when I snag it Sunday.

@JCinPA mentioned a wipe down with colloidal silver and that got me wondering. There is always a newer better way to skin a cat it seems.

I plan to order 2 lbs of beads soon and see if thats enough. Im not sure of the interior dimensions.

Mine was used for sodas, so I wanted to make sure there was no sugary residue and potential mold in mine. Yours may not need that wipe down. But the stuff is magical anti-mold stuff I learned about here, along with lots of other useful info!
