I know its kind of late, but FYI, David Gilmour is on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight (Thursday).

Hey Maggs, you a fan of Gilmour?

I recently saw him front row center at Massey Hall in Toronto. Easily one of the greatest concerts I ever saw, bar none! That man can still make that Strat cry like no other!

By the end of the tour, he will be playing at Royal Albert Hall, of which 2 of the 3 shows will be recorded for a DVD to be released later this year.

I'll tell you, the songs he chose for the second set (Floyd set) were mind numbing! Wots.. Uh, the deal, Fat Old Sun, and a stellar Echoes. He pulled out Arnold Layne (!!!) in California this past week!!

Truly one of the greats who shows no signs of slowing down playing wise. Its just a shame that he doesn't put out more solo efforts. I am a huge fan of this first album, and liked About Face just a little bit less (though I'd prefer them both over the latest sombre On An Island). Don't get me wrong, his playing is still skillful and passionate, but the songs are dreary and languish.

Off to catch Gilmour!

PS - tomorrow, there will be an AOL live performance of Gilmour, recorded in NYC a couple weeks back. I still can't believe that his tour is finishing tonight in the US. It feels like it just started!!

Echoes is my favorite song of all time!!! and Wots..., Uh, the Deal was one of the first I learned to play on guitar. I wish I hadn't missed the concerts, Sounds like a fantastic show. His new album is pretty good, I'm just glad he finally released Smile on a cd, it was definitely one of my favorites from the David Gilmour in Concert DVD. Damn... and to think he pulled out some super old school Floyd like Arnold Layne... should've payed. I missed the chance to get tickets to one if his shows. :( I could've bought off of ebay but the prices were to ridiclous. If we ever get a Pink Floyd Reunion tour I have already planned to do whatever it takes to see as many American shows as possible.

Thanks for the heads up about Leno, Maggs! made it just in time.

Echoes is my favorite as well. I first learned the song Wish You were Here on guitar waaaay back when. You should have purchased tickets, however it sounds like Waters will be touring the states in the fall. So you might have your chance yet to see at least part of the Floyd.

I certainly do hope the Floyd tour again, but considering its Dave's desire whether to go out on tour or not, I have a feeling it won't happen anytime soon. Hell, they DID reunite for Live 8, so who knows right?

That DVD of Gilmour's is amazing, though I'm more fond of the deleted David Gilmour In Concert video from 1985, recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon. For me the songs from About Face just have more Ooomph to them and really kicked ass live on stage. But to each his own....

Great Leno performance I must say.... just wish they showed Wish You were Here.
