Do you guys/gals do metal detecting as a Hobby?

I know I've seen it discussed a few times on here, along with suggestions on what kinds of models to buy. Rod was talking about it in one of the threads - do a search in his posts. :)

I hit OBX a couple times a year. Wifey hits the sack around 9pm and I detect with a headlamp till 2 or 3 in the morning.

NA

I want to see a picture of that. :D

Don't know where Jeffersonville is but I know some people go out in Monticello when they let the lakes down. All the stuff that has been dropped is there for the finding. My grandfather found a watch just walking out in front of there cottage. He saw the band sticking up. Took it home cleaned it up and it was still working. I know one person we took skiing lost his wedding ring when he fell.

I am just across the river from Louisville, KY.

My dad does it all the time. Has found a lot that has enabled him to buy newer detectors every year or so. I think he uses the "whites" brand...pretty cool gadgets they are! He also does underwater detecting in the shallows on beaches with his waders...always comes back with something cool hehe.

Hey, I look really cool with my headlamp, and a big hook in the middle of my belt in the back where I drop the loop from my 3 foot aluminum sand scoop in order to drag it behind me... not to mention the nylon mesh swag bag also hanging from my belt.
I hunt in the wash for jewelry, rings, earrings, and the like... not much trash or coins there.
