I saw these in a local B&M in Savannah today and picked one up.

Has any one here tried these before? If so, what is your opinion? Since most B&Ms keep their RH a bit high, I am keeping mine in my closely controlled travel humi for a few days before I try it.

Is it worth the $9 I paid for it or not?

I like em. It’s a good occasional smoke. I probably wouldn’t buy a box like my buddy did but I’ll grab a stick from time to time. It’s got a rich coca flavor with hints of spice. Pretty ideal for an after dinner smoke.

Edited to add these smoke pretty well at a high RH. My buddy keeps his humi around 70~72.

I wouldn't waste any money on the Red Dot Cohibas. There are so many better smokes out there for the same money that the idea is just insane. However, this is just one man's opinion.

I have to agree. While I've only had one XV and I don't like judging any brand or type on one smoke, I'm not inspired to buy any more.

Good with some age.
I have had some that are over 5 years old...very tasty smokes.

Worth the money...questionable! Worth trying for $9...sure!

That may be what was wrong with the one I had, it was young.

That being said, thinking back to my last visit to a B&M a couple of days ago and what I saw in the $8-10 range, I think I'd pick an AF WOA, VSG Enchantment, RP Sun Grown Toro, CT Virtuoso Maestro, LA Preferido #2 (OK, $11), etc long before I'd pick up a Red Dot.

While I believe in "different strokes for different folks" and have respect for other's opinions, this is just my $0.02 worth of Newbie experience.

I have tried the classic Red Dots a few times and have not been impressed with these - especially for the price. I stopped buying any of those a few weeks ago. I thought that these may be quite different since they are considerably darker and boast a different blend.

I totally agree that there are many, much better smokes for the same (or lower) price. I will give this XV a couple more days in the travel humi and give the Red Dots one more chance. Only found 2 DR smokes so far that I like at all. Though I continue trying.

Grateful1. I can't comprehend the whole concept of paying that much for a smoke and then not smoking it for 3-5 years. But I am still a noob and have no patience.

I had picked up a half a box about 1 1/2 years ago for $6 a piece and have let them aged since. I recently had one and they taste alot better then before. I agree with the cenus that there are many equal or better smokes for the money, but non-the-less it is not a "bad" smoke.

I have read about the Blacks, but have not seen them in a B&M yet. I will not order a whole box, because of my past experience with Cohiba Red Dot.

Gabriel has cohiba blacks, I belive you can buy them by the stick from him.

Thats the thing, my place has three boxes and I could have em all if I wanted them, but don't know how many of you guys would be interested. I would only by them by the box. TO get a discount.

The XV's are a great medium body smoke...lots of flavor and definately not one dimensional.
I can't see ageing an already extremely smooth smoke,to me,it would be makeing it much milder, but thats me.

I say buy em,smoke em!

I like the XV's better than the Red Dots - and they're generally cheaper too...

Not a bad smoke at all - just a tad bit pricey... I like Anejo's much better for the same money...
