I haven't seen more than the initial report. From what I read, it looked as if it was HIS bag, and while he was moving it (towards an intended target like a casino perhaps?) it detonated prematurely.
This is, however, complete conjecture at this time.

This is what I suspected as well, however when the story first broke, it wasn't clear to me if it was a bombing gone wrong by someone who bungled the "package."
