Fucking Pandas
The Face is the 3rd in the Monster Series release.
1/3: Starts off peppery and spicy just like the rest of the 2021's. Again, I find this surprising given that age should mellow out a cigar, but i guess that "rule of thumb" has its limitations. The retrohale is difficult given the level of spice. Half an inch in the spice has dissipated to where I can enjoy the cigar. Maybe it was the change in cadence. So now I can tell that cedar has joined, and the spice has toned down to a level where i can determine that it's cinnamon. Leaving the first third, I find myself tasting milk chocolate.
2/3: The spice has shifted away from cinnamon and towards a red pepper spice. The cedar is now oak or mesquite- I cannot really tell but it is not cedar anymore.
3/3: The wood note has settled on oak. The spice remains and it appears that this is how the cigar will finish out.
Final thoughts: Not bad at all. I'm still surprised at how the 2021s' have all started off peppery while the 2024s' are more nuanced. Still, not a bad cigar but I'm eagerly awaiting the 2024.
