Few Questions

I haven't been smoking too long, however I've always wondered if or when you should remove the ash from the end of your cigar while smoking. Or maybe it should simply fall off naturally?

Second, I have a Humidor that I got for free with a purchase at CI, however there is no hygrometer built in. How can I keep track of the humidity levels?

And lastly, I notice that some of you are very good at picking up the flavors of a smoke, however I never seem to pick up more than one or two. Is this simply a skill that comes with time and experience, or am I making a mistake?

I'll be the first to say it: search is your friend. All your questions have been discussed before.

But, for quick answers:

1) Personal taste. Some say let the ash accumulate and fall on it's own. Others tap it off every quarter inch. I don't really think it makes much of a difference. If the ash is too long it may impede the cigar from burning and drawing properly, at least in my experience.

2) Buy a digital hygrometer. You can get one at cigarswag.com or any retailer.

3)It may come with time, it may not. You are not making any mistake. Some people can pick out certain flavors/aromas, some people can't. Just keep smoking and enjoying and the skill may come to you in due time.
