Fireworks

We'll typically buy small fireworks and set them off in the street. Nothing major.

They are illegal in LA County. Despite that the whole drive home from my buddy's place last year looked like I was driving through a warzone.
When I was younger, like me early 20’s, I was at a hippy music festival and one night felt like some crazy stuff out of a Vietnam movie. Hippies and fireworks, esp sparkler bombs, is something I was unprepared for. Quite Trippy. It was a good time

When I was a young kid, living in rural PA, there used to be a field behind the house across the street from us that was filled with about 25-30 semi trailers. Somehow we were all family friends, and the guy that owned those trailers -- full of fireworks -- used to pay us kids $.10/box to strip off all the hazard labels. As the 4th of July and NYE got closer, we'd get $.25/box. Looking back now, I see how illegal this was (what the hell was my mom thinking?!?), but as a young kid it was just an irregular job.

He would also send us home with a big garbage bag full of different fireworks every Fourth, and the scars would still be visible on the driveway for months afterwards.

He was busted by the Feds (no-shit FBI, with blue windbreakers, and everything) and he and his son were sentenced to something like 30 years in prison. The old guy is probably dead, but the son would probably just be getting out about now, give or take a few years. Holy Hell... I'm glad I moved far away from there.
