Just got done with my first El Rey Choix Supreme. All I can say is Unbelievable! I have smoked what I thought were ISOM's in the past (partagas, Romeo Y Julieta) that friends had brought back from trips. These were in tubes and tasted nowhere close to this cigar. Maybe it was that they were usually unhumidified and kept in a drawer before.

I also have a few other in my Humi waiting for me. Hoe does the Choix Supreme compare to the following?

Hoyo de Monterey epicure #2
H. Upmann Connasuier no.1
Romeo Y julieta Exhibicion #4
Saint Luis Rey Regios

All of these await the right time to taste. I plan on taste these to decide whether to buy boxes/cabs or keep sampling.

What about the Hoyo de Monterey Petit Robusto? Are they any good?

Is there anything legal that compares (besides Opus X) to these?

Thanks,
Dan

Well I've never smoked any of the Cubans you mentioned so I cannot comment there. But as far as non Cubans that compare I would go with Anejos, Padron aniversaries(64) and Padron serie 1926. I'm sure just about everyone here would tell you the same thing. Another good Cuban to sample in my opinion would be the Ramon Allones Specially Selected(RASS) a great cigar for the price.

Yea get the Rass or the H.Upman Mag 46's you won't want another non Cuban cigar after those.

the erdm are one of my favs. go ahead and buy you a cabinet while your trying the others. those you mentioned are all different that the choix sup. just as good, but different.

another one of my favs is the vegas robaina fomosos. give them a try too.
