I am looking to add a foosball table to the smoking room but I don't have much experience, so if you play and can tell me what to look for when purchasing a table I would appreciate it. I have a line on a Cyclone II but not sure if it will pan out.

These guys are pretty decent.. LINK1 -- LINK2

Hmmmm, maybe DD needs a clock for his new foosball room! :whistling:

I played a ton in college. In my experience the tornados and cyclones are top notch and really the way to go. Since it will hopefully last quite a while it is worth picking up a decent table. If you go with a cheaper one you will end up with problems with levelness, rod function, distortion in the table etc.

I agree with insight. Go quality up front. My father brought back a table from Germany after a short stint there in the Air Force (Vietnam). I still have the table and have played regularly since I was old enough for him to kick my a**. I had to have the surface planed about six years ago and I have replaced the rods once, but it plays better than any cheap bar table.

I saw one in a store just a week ago. It was beginning to disintigrate - really! It was stapled at the joints and two of the four corners were seperated. The felt was bubbled on the horizontal surface. If Nate's table is quality, this one was the antithesis. It was the floor model.

Another vote for the Tornado. It was a huge difference over other tables. Much more ball control. Spent many, many nights on those tables.

They are alot more pricey, but built like tanks. I would not even hestate to buy a used one. I have seen refurbed tables that were very nice!!

I have played on many different types of foosball tables. We do not have a tornado at my dad's farm (it's something not nearly as good and just doesn't last as long) but I assure you Tornado is the only one worth getting. We had a used one back in highschool and it still played great unbelievably.

The only problem with foosball is that it's tough to get someone who is of your skill level to play against you.

I will totally toot my own horn on this: I am great at foosball. Whenever I go to NYC, a trip to Off the Wagon is in order and I defeat EVERYONE!

I'd smoke you.

But on the subject of tables, get a decent Tornado. Most everything else is just a wannabe. Be sure it has the step up quality men on it, and get yourself a dozen or so red balls.
