Ok...I get lost in some of the topics that are a couple years old...I read em MUCH later and by the time I bother responding like a dim bulb, everyone wonders what I am talking about. So AVB, I just read you Egg Nog recipe...Geezus man, I am gonna make that before the holidays are over...

*fanning self*

Melly

Melissa, thanks for bringing AVB's recipe back to life, however, you completely left me hanging without posting the recipe. No worries though, I found it - but for those other lazy fuggers who don't like to search:

AVB's Eggnog Recipe:

1 pint brandy
1/2 pint rye whiskey
1/2 pint Jamaica rum
1/4 pint sherry
8 eggs
12 Tbsp sugar
1 qt milk
1 qt heavy cream

Mix liquors first, then separate yolks and whites of eggs. Beat yolks and add sugar, mixing well. Add liquor to mixture slowly, continuing to beat. Add milk and cream, slowly beating. Beat whites of eggs until stiff and fold slowly into mixture. Chill thoroughly.

Hey AVB - I wouldn't think it would matter what brand of liquor you use because of all of other flavors involved in this mix, however, if you have found it to matter, let me know. I plan to make this at my folks's house next week! This might make things interesting next week.

This does belong in the saloon where it started but to answer your question I haven't found it to matter which booze you use. I used Jim Beam Yellow Label Rye, Meyer's Dark rum, Christian Brothers Brandy and whatever sherry we had laying around the last times I've made this.

Ahhh, you're right, this does belong in the saloon and I see the thread which has been brought to life there as well. I just don't have much experience in the saloon and don't visit there that often. At any rate, I'll definitely give your recipe a whirl over the holidays. I'll let you know how it turns out, or what trouble it may cause.

I got a couple recipes that involve a bit og "nog", myself....

I am sorry I did not keep it in the Saloon, but I wanted to make sure AVB saw it and responded to it...sorry for the LOBBY clutter :)

No worries, Melly - if you had not posted it here, I probably would not have seen it. I look forward to giving it a try.

This place has already helped to increase my cigar intake; all I need is for it to help increase my alcohol consumption.
