This is my first review.

I was farting around on the computer when the ole lady suggests we try a single malt. "Something new", she said. I went down to the liquor cabinet and I grabbed this. To my knowledge, it's not available in the U.S. Royal Mile Whiskies has it for about £25.

This malt was matured in toasted oak bourbon barrels, which I guess gives it part of its orange-tinted amber color. The color has been described as caramel and I can't disagree. When nosing, I picked up citrus (orange, perhaps?) and vanilla, thought not overwhelmingly so. When tasting, it begins sweet and a slight spiciness follows along with another taste I couldn't identify. Medium finish, and the spiciness lingers momentarily.

Overall, this is a pretty mellow malt which, I suppose, is somewhat expected given that it is 80 proof. It's mild but flavorful; it seems to get better with each sip. Because it cannot be obtained easily, I can't recommend that people immediately place orders for it. I do however think it's worth the price for the person who is looking for something that isn't easily found but doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars.
