So on my way home from work today I was involved in about a 7 car accident today due to an ice buildup on a bridge. It wasn't a horrible accident, though one person did get carted off in an ambulance (prayers are with that individual.) My initial reaction to this incident was what anyone would assume it would be, I thought to myself "go figure!" But I decided to try to find the positive in the situation and I found it. One of the vehicles that hit me did so on the side of my truck that was already damaged from hauling some lumber recently. So instead of being pissed about the situation I decided to try to find the good in it, now I'll get my truck fixed and not have to pay for it! I'm trying to turn over a new leaf here guys, now hopefully nothing else goes wrong cause I don't know how long I can do this! :whistling:

Glad you came out of it in good shape, congrats on getting your truck fixed for free!

Who's insurance pays for that and does it affect your premiums?

From my understanding after talking with the insurance agent it shouldn't affect my premiums at all and because the other individual hit me their insurance covers it. I have to pay the deductible up front but will get reimbursed once the other insurance company pays my insurance company back. I was a little out of it when I was talking to the ins company, but that is what I took from the conversation.

Sorry to hear about the wreck. I'm originally from NJ but lived in Las Colinas/Irving for a few years. While it was nice weather most of the time I remember some icy times where no one knew how to drive. I remember everything closing for a few days from some ice storm and all we could do was wait it out. It seems understandable that not too much money is spent on snow trucks and salt trucks etc in that area. Best of luck on the repairs.

On a related topic, the weather is just wicked ugly here tonight. The day's high temp was recorded at 12:01 this morning and the thermometer's been falling all day. Got below freezing around mid-morning and is about 26 now. The big precip hit just a few hours ago after everything had a chance to cool off which means everything just glazes over. You really can't drive in it. It's not like snow at all. When you hit the sheet ice, all you're really doing is skating. Best to just ride it out at home if you can.
