Some of you know I'm a ham radio operator. Well, I'm in the process of talking to some old timers who used to have a 2 meter repeater on the air about 10 years ago when I got my call. They have since pulled the repeater off the air and it's been down for 7 or 8 years now.

Well, I finally got in touch with a guy, who knows them and finally got an email back from one of them today! I have offered to have the repeater at my house, as the base of my antenna (which is 14 feet tall) is well over 400 feet above sea level, the highest spot in the county that I live in! The frequency is 147.030MHz.

I'm stoked about this as I'll be a control operator and will be able to do some cool stuff from my HT remotely! I think it's an old GE repeater and I believe they still have the equipment!

I'm waiting on a phone call tonight about this! Stay tuned.....

When are you going to get a REAL ham radio license? I've been sitting over here in California waiting to talk to you for how many years now???

:p

BTW, congrats on becoming a control op. I hope you don't have to deal with as many nuts as I do...

Mike, LMAO.......Good one!

As you probably already know (and those that have met me know this) I love to talk. Sometimes, I won't shut up and my excuse is this......There are not enough hours in the day to say everything I need to say!

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

As far as becoming a real Ham, I will be waiting until the code requirment is done away with. I am unable to learn it, just something about putting dah and dits into a sentence baffles me!!!

I have advocated for the no code thing for years and it looks like it is happening around the world and eventually, it will happen in the USA!!

The repeater thing is something I've always wanted though. There are no available frequency pairs in Central Va. So, I knew these pairs were still licensed but off the air.

It will be nice to sit in my office on my HT and have a roundtable discussion again on quiet nights....

:D

No, he talks to his relatives in the past. It's not that they're dead, it's that they are still alive when he talks to them. Didn't you see the movie?
