And the TABC, in their infinite wisdom, shut it down.

Yeah, I was gonna play in a Charity poker tournament at our local horse track, hosted by Dale Hansen, local sports TV broadcaster for the ABC affiliate, to benefit Texans Can! Academy (here's promo video).

Who else, but the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the folks that run the Texas Lottery, step in and tell the race track, that since there are prizes to be given greater than the entry fees, it's considered gambling. And if held, they'll pull the racing license.

I mean, come on now! Yeah, there were prizes to be given, but the majority of the entry fees were for a great charitable cause.

If I go on from here, I'll just start repeating what Dale said in his 25 minute lambasting of the TABC yesterday over the radio.

Who organized the event? Sounds like it was going to be pretty big, just seems like something you'd look into.
