I've been wanting to build a basic solar charging unit for a while now, however there are so many options I'm not certain which way to go.
My main concern is having basic power to run my ham station, which consists of a 100 watt HF transceiver (when transmitting) and a 50 watt 2M/440 radio. These radios are easily powered by a 12 volt car battery, so I'm looking to build a solar system that will charge a bank of deep cycle batteries.
Last year I spent many hours researching this, and have come up with a basic design. Before I make any purchase, I wanted to see if anyone out there has a solar setup. I'm not looking to go off-grid, just a simple solar station that will provide a decent amount of wattage for powering radios and some low power lights.
If you setup a system, I am curious to learn more about it!
Thanks.
