Mayorga coffees, owned by the same guy who started the cigar brand of the same name (the cigars are now made by the parent company of JR), is based in my hometown.

At the costco on Saturday they were selling 2-lb bags for $10. SO I said what the hell, my roommate wanted me to pick him up some.

Apprearance: quite dark and oily. Looks "rich."

Aroma: Strong and roasty.

I brewed up a batch and this is great coffe:

The flavor is very strong, and the oils and whatnot in the bean create a natural sweetness that does best with minimal external sweetening. Very rich, dark, and bold. The flavor of it is quite amenable to sweetening with a dab of honey, though sugar works just as well.

This is not a coffee to drink "au lait." A little bit of milk and a little bit of sugar go a long way with this coffee.

I would definitely recommend it at $5/lb. Unfortunately, I doubt any of you will be able to find it at that price. If you like your coffee black, it's probably worth paying retail.
