I swapped my wifes old ipod out for a new Nano (3rd Gen.). I got it home, plugged it in to itunes, did all the stuff to get it set up, then transferred some music to it. Everything was fine, left it hooked up to charge, and got back 30 min later to find the screen lit but nothing on it. Was able to turn if off by holding down the menu and select key, but now it will not turn on, itunes does indicate it when plugged in, it acts like it died. I did the ipod troubleshooting, the 5r's, but still no dice.

Anyone had any experience w/ this happening and any clue what to do, other than head back to Best Buy and swap it out?

this indicates a bad harddrive happened to mine

I have a nano (flash drive) and a 60 gig video (hard drive) and the reset procedure has always worked on both. I'm sure you did, but did you remember to slide the hold button?

Yep, i toggled the hold button, but it's unresponsive, reckon it's dead. It lasted all of 15min
