Tonight, at Downtown San Jose's Concert In The Park series "The Beat" will be performing. I've been into these guys since back in the day and can't wait to finally see them live in concert!

Party time .....

Which "Beat"?

The English Beat or the American group "The Beat".
I ask because "The English Beat" were call "The Beat" in England.

It's all so confusing at times...

Looks like The English Beat.

pulled from the events calendar

- Considered one of the most important and earliest ska groups

- Smash hits include "Tears Of AClown", "Save It For Later", "I Confess", "Doors Of Your Heart", "Tenderness", and "I'll Take You There".

- Has a history of politically charged songs such as “Stand Down Margaret”

- Gained popularity all over the world, especially the United States, Japan, U.K. and Australia

- The English Beat is still fronted by singer/songwriter Dave Wakeling, who has toured non-stop since, playing the hits of The English Beat General Public, and his new material. Joining Dave is another ska legend, Lynval Golding of another seminal 2Tone band, The Specials. Dave also has an all-star ska backing band!

Should be a killer show, I saw them a few times over the years but the best show was the 1982 US Festival. I've still got a Tshrit packed away from that and the '83 Festival. Mirror in the Bathroom is my favorite by them.. The Specials are or can be crazed on stage too.

Wow ..... what a fun concert , except I forgot what it was like standing in the "pit" .... damn kids   .

Glad to hear it was a good time. The old two-toners always have held a special place in my heart.
Was the pit really active?

The pit was only crazy a couple of times, I have the bruises to prove it. But the pogoing was nonstop down in front where we were, and I have the sore muscles to prove that
