La Gloria Cubana Reserva

So who has had the La Gloria Reserva line? What is the difference between them and the Serie R line?

I had one of the small ones and have one of the next size up but haven't smoked it yet. I posted in the Whatch'a section that IMHO that I thought it lacked depth. Although I smoked it after an Anjeo so I am reserving final judgement until I have smoked the other one.

There are only a hand full of domestic cigars you could smoke after an Anejo and think they hav depth or complexity. Should have reversed the order ya newb :whistling:

I was a little disappointed with it. It is supposed to be the La Gloria blend, but it was pretty mild and it was the first cigar I smoked that day.

I tried the La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurado last night at my local shop's Christmas party and thought it was a great smoke. I found it to be like the LGC Serie R without the bite. Still found it to be full bodied and really enjoyed it!

I don't know what I was thinking :0 I was at the cigar store, they serve drinks there and he sold me the Anjeo's then the LGC. After a couple of Vodka's on the rocks it seemed like the right thing to do. That's why I qualified my opinion. :laugh: I do have the other one to try but now my opinion will, in accountant's lingo, no longer be unqualified.

OK, finally smoked the other one on a long car ride from Florida. I didn't make any contemoraneous notes, but then I don't think I would have had much to say except it was still without much depth, kind of mild/med. Looks great though.

I smoked one of the small ones (Flechas Especiales). It was a beautifully
made long perfecto; very impressive to look at. It also smelled wonderful
prior to lighting, very rich and spicy. I smoked it and enjoyed it, but about
halfway through I realized that it tasted EXACTLY like a regular Dominican
La Gloria. I'm very familiar with this taste because the El Credito "Apprentice"
cigars (La Gloria seconds) are one of my regular "yard-gars" which I smoke all the time.

Just to be sure, the next night I smoked a La Gloria Wavell and yep, same taste.
I believe that it's the same blend.

I think the Serie R is a better blend : both heavier and smoother.

I'm with Golfgar. Well constructed, good smooth cigar, but unremarkable for the price. It'd be a good $3/4 cigar. Changed flavors about half way through and turned cocoa...
