Le Hoyo du Prince 1998
Size: 5.13 inches by 40-ring gauge
Year: 1998
The cigar Wrapper was medium tan with some light tan highlights and a
few scattered green blemishes. A somewhat rustic appearance with some veins
and a nice oily sheen. Overall construction was just ok.
The pre-light draw was good.
When first lighting the cigar the aroma was mild and fragrant. Initial profile
was mild tobacco showing wood overtones with an apparent sweetness.
The first half was a profile of cedar wood and mildly sweetened spiciness.
Fresh spices of mild nutmeg with hints of cocoa and White pepper.
The second half of this cigar gave me the mild Hoyo tobacco taste.
Flavors of fine cedar and spices continuing as the core tobacco flavor
became the more dominant characteristic. This flavor profile continued until
I reduced this tasty stick to a finger scorching nub.
While the Du Prince is NOT a bold or even remotely strong cigar, it did
present a well balanced elegance that would make for a great morning smoke.
