Lexington, KY area herfers

Over the past few years I have lived in Ohio, Arizona, New York, and now Lexington, KY. I am wondering if there are any herfers from the area that can give cigar advice on Lexington.

Loving it here so far but I have yet to stumble upon a good shop.

Wow, didn't know you were that close....need to get together for a cigar. Unfortunately, I have heard there aren't many options in Lexington. PM Shooter, he would know better....

I went to school down there and still get down there quite a bit for work. There are only 2 shops in Lexington that I visit these days:

1) Schwab's Pipes and Stuff which is off of New Circle Road very near Richmond Road. This place used to be in the Lexington Mall but moved when the mall was going down hill...in fact, don't look for the mall since I think it no longer exists. They have excellent pipe tobacco there too. The humidor is very large at Schwab's and they have what I think to be the best selection in town;

2) Fayette sits right across the street from the library downtown. It is kind of a gift shop, book stand and tobacconist all in one. Since tobacco is sinful, the humidor sits in the back of the store beside the porn and sex toys. Maybe that's the reason that I like the place...one stop shopping for smut and cigars! Any way, they tend to get some of the big stuff (Opus X, etc) and boutique stuff (full line of Bucanero, Canimao, etc).

Back in the good ol' days there were other shops in town that were decent but those are really the only two that I can give you right now. There may be others but I just don't know. Neither of the ones that I have given you are as good as the ones in Northern Kentucky (Party Source, Strauss, etc.) but they are good shops. Give Schwab's look....

Thanks for the advice. FWIW I was heading out of town this weekend and needed to pick up a bottle of bourbon so I stopped by the Liquor Barn on Harrodsburg Road. They actually had a decent humidor. Prices seemed a bit high but they had a pretty good selection. Most of the big-name stuff (Padron, CAO, Ashton, Feunte) and some limited stuff (Opus, VSG, ESG). The good stuff was pretty pricey, though.

Again, thanks for the advice, and I will shoot you a message, DePasta when I am back in Louisville. I make plenty of business trips over there and I am sure I will have a chance for a herf sometime.

Yeah I forgot about Liquor Barn...they get some good stuff, but they gouge a bit on the HTF stuff. The owner likes to hold back Opus and stuff for himself. If you find out who manages the humidor, you can get them to give you better prices on stuff.....Yep, let me know when you are in town!

I generally go to Schwab's... You can actually smoke in there due to the tobacco sales being over a certain percentage. I've also been told that Jake's Cigar Bar and Lounge is a decent place to go by a few friends although I have not been there myself. It's just outside of Lexington. Good luck with your search.

I actually just made it to Schwab's on Monday afternoon. Nice place, and the smoking area was great. Hard to find a good place to herf in Lexington.
