Had a chance to grab some MacBaren Dark Twist for about $8. Anyone with experience? Comments? How is MacBaren in general and Dark Twist specifically and what should I expect out of it?
Just digging through the archives and ran across this post. Dark Twist is an excellent choice, although a bit sharp on the tongue. Its mild overall with a hint of sweetness. My daily pipe tobacco is Mac Baren's Roll Cake. They taste similar (the Twist seems a bit richer, fuller), but thats just my palate. As with any Mac, it burns hot as hell no matter what I try.
I have some MacBaren's Scottish Mixture, and it's pretty nice. Somewhat sweet, and flavored with scotch (or so I've heard). It's not my favorite but I always enjoy it. Hmmm, maybe smoke some when I get home tonight.
