Mark Twains Humidor on Ebay

Wow that is beautifully made. I love the way pieces made in a certain era have characteristics uniquely their own, and this piece with the history behind it is a small treasure.

That is a beautiful piece of work and would be a definite honor to have, assuming the authenticity of it. The seller did happen to get Sam's name wrong ("Samuel Clemment"???). Lol. Maybe that will be his attempted safety clause....Hey, I said Samuel Clemment, not Samuel Clemens! :sign:

Yeh I saw that too and thought WTF...

He corrected that:

On Apr-16-07 at 10:24:12 PDT, seller added the following information:

I'm sorry, I meant "Samuel Clemens" not "Samuel Clemments". Please forgive all my typos.

Interesting design, too, with the metal box inside the wood...

---John Holmes...

It's going for over 5 grand now, and you don't get a single Padron Millenium. Go figure.

The metal inside makes me wonder if it were for pipe tobacco. That and what looks like storage areas in the back portion make it look like it's for pipes.

I'm suprised that the Mark Twain House wouldn't have picked this up. Unless the seller's a real dolt and didn't contact them directly. If the seller did contact them and they turned it down...I wonder why?!

I just called the museum - they didn't know about it - or that it was for sale.
