I got an Veggie Deluxe Aerogarden for a present and I have to say its pretty neat. Its not only a nice addition to the man cave but it also offers a basement night light.

I am grown Heirloom Tomatoes right now and their 2 weeks old. Its a completely hydroponic system so the upkeep is really easy. I am going to grow these tomatoes during the winter and start all of my outside plants when it gets closer to spring.

Here are some pics...

What are the round things with plastic strips hanging down? Do you have to use a special "aerogarden" insert/seed pod/whatever to grow in these?

Wife might like something like this... I assume you can grow year round?

Thats the trellis system that the veggie deluxe comes with. You wrap those around the brances when they get big enough. You have to buy one of their seed kits to start because of the little domes and plastic inserts. As you see the tomatoes only came with 2 pods because they get so big, but I have another 14 seed herb kit im going to do next. Then I plan on ordering this: http://www.hydroponic-home-garden.com/store/aerogarden-alternatives/do-it-yourself-aerogarden-kit-6.html

How much does it run for a setup like this? Might make a cool xmas gift for the wife. We tryed the upside down tomato thingy this summer, but a whole host of issues came up so it yeilded very little.

I have one of these and they are great. You can also by the pods from the website and grow whatever you like. Great product. I love tomatoes and with the Aerogarden you can enjoy them yr. round.
