Just wanted to say a quick hello to all and give a quick intro. I've been smoking 'gars for a while now but will always consider myself a newbie. There is always something new around the corner waiting to be experienced.

I'm a senior network / systems / communications / web engineer as my full time job (hence the reason I look forward to my evening relax cigar). I also own / run an automotive repair business and build custom furniture in my spare time (when??). Wife and kids also keep me busy but that's the fun part. :D

That's it. Pretty simple.

While you're here, I'd like some input from those of you who have / use the Cigar Oasis for you humi. Do you recommend or should I go more towards the Climmax devices. I'm just tired of having to mess with the sponge type humidifier (300 count humi).

Thanks,
BR

Welcome to CP Mr. Maddy!!!

As for the humidification device, while I have yet to use the beads, I must say the masses say they are the way to go, and I will switch over as soon as I expend my storage space.

Welcome aboard Mr. Maduro. This is a great place to be, lots of nice folks and tons of info!

As for the humi question, GO WITH CLIMMAX! I've used them, and personally like them very much.

See ya around the board,
Rod

Howdy Mr. Maduro. You'll find that this is a great place to hang out. I'm a newbie here myself and you'll find that everyone is very nice on this message board.

Thake care,
Vic

welcome Mr Maduro

Yeah the Climmax media is the way to go.
Someone once asked this question on this board, the member who said ok great ended up buying that company! LOL
So It is safe to assume that asking on CP will get a resounding Yep it's the best way!

Mr. M Welcome to CP, great place to hang I know you'll love it here ;)

I use an Oasis in one of my hummis and its been working just great. The downside of course is you have to change out or at least refill it.

Ijust started using them Climmax beads with fantastic results do see brother Vern ............ he is the man

Again welcome aboard :D

Welcome Mr M., either of the sources you mentioned will work just fine. I use both and can't say one is any easier/harder to use than the other. Each has its +/-'s depending if you need to give or take moisture out of your humidor.

cliMMax media is less expensive than an oasis. If you order them loose make sure you do not spill them or knock them over.....very messy. :) (can you tell I've done that before?) If you live in a place with high humidity the cliMMax media would be the better of the two since it can remove humidity as well as release it. It is a great product and I would not hesitate to suggest it for use.

The Oasis is a great device once you get it set. No fuss, no hassle. Once the humidity starts to drop you need to add distilled water or replace it with a refill. I have refilled mine 3 times over the past year and a half and its been a snap. Next refill will have me removing the foam from the water cartridge and replacing with polymers. The polymers will hold water much longer than the foam currently in Oasis cartridges and the Oasis itself will regulate the release. Should move my fill ups from once every 3 or 4 months to once every 6 to 8months. (thats what I'm hoping for anyway) The only draw back is if you need to drop the humidity. It only "releases humidity" when its sensors are tripped from dropping below your setting.

Both great products IMHO. If you decide on the cliMMax beads say hi to Vern for us.

Mr. M,

You are gonna love this place. I mostly lurk around, but this site has lots of folks that know alot about cigars, enjoy the hobby to an extreme, and are helpful beyond belief.

Sit back, light one up, pour yourself a drink, and enjoy.

Welcome to our world!
:D

Welcome! Great bunch of people here that are always ready to help out with their knowledge and experience. ;)

I'm a bead user myself and love them. Pour a bit of water on the beads every 3-4 months and relax knowing your sticks will be fine.
