Opus X Gift Tins

Yesterday we're driving to Jacksonville for the UF/UGA game, and about 1/2 way there i realize i left my travel humi on the counter :angry: so when i get to Jax i go by a b&m i used to go to when i lived here. Nice place, has some Opus, and some of the Tins in Robusto and Perf., and the guy that's helping me says they are stored for 10 yrs in Fuentes storage facilities. I almost immediately called BS, but bit my tongue because he implied the Fuente Rep told him that. My understanding is, and Moki's site confirmed it, that those are regular production Opus, but are there any 'special' tins that they might give to their better customers? Just don't get why a very good shop would say that, the guy that helped me has been there along time

It could be because of the tin itself. When people see "Rare Estate Reserve 1992" printed on the tin they assume they are aged from that date. If his rep implied that they were extensively aged then shame on him. Fuente doesn't need false representation to sell the cigars they make.

I think you are correct Gator. Those things aren't aged any longer then the regular release of Opus. It's just a way of packaging them in a nifty little package.
If they were aged 10 years, or even 5 for that matter, the price would be much higher then it already is. Besides, the Fuentes are no dummies. They would put special bands on the sticks to make you feel like you had something even more special.

No, there are no "special tins" they give to anyone. The guy who was helping you was misinformed at best, misleading you at worst.

They are absolutely not stored for 10 years at Fuente's "storage facility". It may be that he's just uninformed, or was misled by an uninformed rep, or whatever.

I specifically asked this question of people at Fuente who are in a position to know definitively. He stated that they are just regular production Opus in a nice case.
