So I've heard of a couple friends having things stuck below the gum line after eating popcorn, so when I had it checked today at the Dentist, I was expecting to be in and out in no time.

My gum area had swollen recently after going out to the movies with the wife and kids. The area is adjacent to a tooth that had cracked and therefore had to be crowned to keep the tooth intact. Upon x-ray, the Dentist turned to me with a troubled look on his face. He told me that there was no good way to say it, the tooth must come out. I was shocked. I asked if he was available Friday to have it removed. He told me in no uncertain terms, "You're not leaving here with that tooth."

Turns out, when the tooth cracked it became infected deep in the bone. They capped it and we thought all was good.

I will say that I normally take all in stride. As I was paying my copay on the way out, they asked if I needed a receipt. I held up my bag containing my tooth, and told them this was proof enough. As for the Dentist telling me that I wasn't leaving with my tooth. Ha, we'll just see what the tooth fairy brings.

Bfreebern couldn't make it so here's his substitute.

Ouch Gary, sorry to hear that... but your not the only one, I had a molar crack down the middle when the filling fell out, and I have to go have whats left removed next week.

Just remember put off smoking anything till its healed up completely!
