The "Reg Dwight when he was cool" thread prompted this post.

Late last night, I caught this PBS special which featured the musical guest segments of The Johnny Cash Show from 1969 to 1971.
Artists included:
Bob Dylan "Givin' It All Away", Derek and The Dominos "It's Too Late", Joni Mitchell (in a duet w/JC) "Long Black Veil", Neil Diamond (meh) "Cracklin' Rosie", Neil Young "The Damage Done", James Taylor "Sweet Baby James", CCR "Bad Moon Rising", Carl Perkins "Blue Suede Shoes", an absolutely amazing arrangement of "Ring Of Fire" by Ray Charles (no surprise there), George Jones "The Race Is On" (duet w/ Johnny) & "She Thinks I Still Care".
These were all live performances and I was astounded at how great all these guys performed. They were all at the top of their game here. I don't think they ever sounded better.
If you're a fan of pop from this era you should see (and/or own) this show.
