Check out Prosper.com. This site allows the average Joe to borrow or lend to other people. When banks fail to loan you money because you don't fit their mold, try prosper. I had a loan funded through prosper and have help fund 4 other loans. Like anywhere else, do your research prior to investing/loaning money. I myself belong to a group for active duty military and vets. When I put my money out for a loan, I do so to help out other active duty/reserve military. There are other groups that fit each walk of life.
The minimum amount you may loan is $50. The funny thing is, a single $50 bill can go a long way towards financing a good cause. I havd a retired Navy Chief use 2 seperate $50 loans to effectively bid my loan down from %16.50 to %13.50.
You are only allowed to have one loan at a time. And all loans are a 3 year term. They automatically deduct from your bank account, and you can make an additional payment at any time.
