pseudo-maduros

after I was able to yank myself (pun intended) away from page 36 of the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado, I skipped to the article about maduro wrappers. great piece, but one thing I found *very* disturbing was the mention of the "short-cut maduros". apparently some cigar manufacturers have gone as far as to dye wrappers with food coloring (or whatever) and labeled them as "maduro".
unfortunately it seems that it's too much for C.A. readers to expect to be informed of the manufacturers who do this, so I was wondering if anybody here knew of any of the guilty parties(?).

There used to be a brand called Alkazar. My buddy smoked one and the wrapper turned his lips and front teeth black. I think this one was dyed. :0

I think this is pretty rare and imagine if you stay away from ultra cheap off brand stuff you should get the real deal.
