What a beautiful, picturesque morning with temperatures in the mid 70’s and a nice, cool breeze blowing. It actually felt good walking in the sun for a change. I’ve had a Quai D’Orsay sitting in the humi for a little while now and have heard they’re great morning smokes, so decided to give it a try.

After fixing a cup of fresh brewed coffee (cream and sugar), I headed out under the walnut tree. The corona had a golden honey wrapper that was fairly coarse with a patchwork of veins throughout. There was some oiliness to it, and I could see the fine “hairs” glistening in the bright sunlight. It had a good weight in the hand and mostly spongy when squeezed with a couple of firm spots. Nothing that felt it could be plugged though.

With the cap punched, pre-draw was just a little on the tight side, but not by much. I put fire to the foot and immediately got a deliciously smooth smoke in the first draw. Rich earth with a delicate woodiness and hints of raw honey. From other reviews I’ve read, this smoke was to be somewhat mild. However, I found it to be a solid medium strength, which was perfect for me. I detected a small amount of spice on the back of the throat that was spot on. Raw honey with earth continued in the smooth and creamy smoke with hints of vanilla. I found it to have a slightly short finish, but delicious nonetheless.

The draw ended up being absolutely perfect with just the right amount of resistance. It had a perfect burn with a dark gray ash that dropped about every ¼ inch. I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar and now need to find more (this was my first and only one of these). I’d have to say this was definitely good for a morning smoke with coffee, however I would enjoy this any time of the day!

So bare with me, I’m playing with yet another photo editing program…

Good review. I've always wondered about this brand but have never pulled the trigger to try one. It sounds as if they aren't too bad with a little age on them. Great pics again, I like the new editing program.
