First thing is to call the major cigar manufactures. A rep will call you back in a day or two. Ask about your chances of getting an account and what the account entails. Each manufacturer has their own stipulations.

Good luck!

Don't do it, there's not enough money in it since most people buy from catalogs and large internet sellers these days. Two shop owners I know will give you the same advice. One way shops make money is with the high end stuff so if you think you can get good steady supplies of high-end Padrons, Fuentes, etc. great but I highly doubt you will have that kind of luck with being able to even get those cigars.

Either that or try to get a deal on an existing business where the owner is so sick of it, he'll sell it cheap.

There's a lot more money in owning a liquor store, at least in Connecticut anyway ;)

thanks guys....im not saying im opening up one right now just thinking about it and if it ever does happen it probably wont be for over a year or so just had to get some facts

PM or contact Matt (smokersonly).

He just opened a store Jun 04 in MI. He may have alot of good info for you.

Also, talk to people like Moki about some of the Cigar Clubs they go to. Appearantly their popularity is on the rise and they make great loyal customer bases. From what Ive heard about Moki's, his has the retail shop on the ground floor and the whole upstairs is a lounge type place for enjoying whatever you buy or bring, along with a beverage of choice, a few friends and whatever amenities they have.
