Rush on the Cigar Tax fiasco

You gotta be kidding me. I tried to email Rush, but in order to email him, you have to sign up and pay $7/month. Interesting...

I try to avoid getting my news and opinions from druggies. I find they don't have a firm grasp of reality.

I personally dislike the guy, but I was sent the link in an Email and found it interesting enough that thought I would share.

Regardless of how one might view Rush, the tax is wrong. Eric Newman really put in perspective when he said

St. Petersburg Times said:
"I'm not sure in the history of man, since our forefathers founded the country in 1776, that there's ever been a tax increase of 20,000 percent," said Newman, who runs the Tampa business founded by grandfather Julius Caesar Newman. "They had the Boston Tea Party for less than this."

Great quote! And 100% true.

That's a good idea but you still pay sales tax on the lighter and the retailer still pays state tobacco tax on the wholesale price of the cigars...

BINGO!!!! B & M's here have to pre-pay the sin tax on cigars quarterly for the inventory they carry.

How about we just spend a few billion less on research for killing humans and we won't NEED a tax?

Because we are a plauge and ever-spreading, we have to be stopped some way........... :sign: Well how about getting people to smoke so they get sick and die prematurely that way we can save money, but then we will have to raise taxes for healthcare?..... :sign: Wow I think I have confused even myself now...lol

I did not realize they hit the retailer pre-sale.....that really sux
