A dry looking almost black wrapper. Pre light draw was earthy and very tobaccoy (is that a real word). Nothing complex about this cigar, good solid with lots of "old character". I like maduros, this was a strong, smooth one. I smoked it while riding the mower for the last time this season and it lasted for most of the yard. I wished that I would have saved it and had a nice brown ale with it. $5.50 retail was a fair price and will have it again.
