Scotch Drinkers deal or no?

Saw this posted over on fatwallet and know the guys in here will be able to sy if this is a deal or not. I'm not a scotch drinker at all so forgive me if this is junk.

Basically its Macallan 18 year scotch with a Kirkland label. It was $59.99 per bottle. Just to put it into perspective, Macallan 18 (distilled and bottled by Macallan) is about $150 per bottle.



This is a costco deal so it might be available nationwide.

In short, it may be as good as or better than the Macallan 18 OB (to your taste), or it may be spectacularly bad. It looks like this has just become available and I can't find any reviews of it, so it's pretty much a crap shoot. It may be worth a shot to a scotch fan on the chance that it is good, but if one is not a big scotch drinker it's probably not worth the risk. Either way, thanks for the heads up, Dave.

Interesting - I was wondering about this too. Might have to try it just for S&Gs. Seems similar to some of the distillery bottlings I've seen (ie Bev-Mo).

The Kirkland offerings have been around for some time. Sometimes they run out and are gone for a while or come back at different ages but they usually return.

Here is a quick review from earlier this year on another board:

"Well I went and picked up a bottle of this stuff. It says "...truly a rare find" on the label. Well numbers may be limited, but its definitely not a rare taste!
Awful stuff, sour and bland with very little trademark Macallan complexity."
